Try going to a credit union. Many allow membership if you are simply a local resident. Call around to find one that you can join. These nonprofits are sometimes more lenient on lending decisions, as well as on the interest rates.

Many of these also have payday loan type products, but at 15% APR instead of the industry average 390% APR.
